Job Summary:

The Dean of Placement is a senior leadership role responsible for maximizing student employment outcomes by developing and executing strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing job placements. This role involves building and nurturing strong relationships with industry partners, organizing career fairs and recruitment events, and preparing students for successful careers through targeted training programs and career counselling. The Dean will oversee all placement-related activities, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and student needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Placement Planning:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive placement strategies and policies to enhance student employment rates.
    • Set annual placement goals and monitor progress towards achieving them.
  2. Industry Outreach and Relationship Building:
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with industry leaders, employers, and professional organizations.
    • Engage with businesses and organizations to create internship and job opportunities for students.
  3. Career Counseling and Student Support:
    • Provide career counseling and guidance to students, including resume building, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
    • Organize and conduct workshops, seminars, and training sessions to prepare students for industry roles.
  4. Job Fair and Recruitment Event Management:
    • Plan, coordinate, and execute job fairs, recruitment events, and employer networking sessions.
    • Collaborate with employers to ensure a diverse range of job opportunities for students.
  5. Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Analyse placement data and trends to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
    • Prepare and present reports on placement statistics and outcomes to institutional leadership and stakeholders.
  6. Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Work closely with academic departments, faculty, and other administrative units to align placement activities with academic programs and student needs.
    • Coordinate with alumni relations to leverage the alumni network for placement opportunities.
  7. Program Development:
    • Develop and implement training programs and resources to enhance students’ employability skills.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and employment market changes to adapt placement strategies accordingly.
  8. Budget Management:
    • Oversee the budget for placement activities and ensure effective allocation of resources.
    • Seek funding opportunities and sponsorships for placement-related events and initiatives.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, Education, or a related field. Doctorate preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in career services, placement, or related fields, with at least 4 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in data analysis and report generation.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
    • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Experience in working with diverse student populations.
    • Knowledge of industry trends and employment market dynamics.
